Bruce Cownden invited Caroline Grover to speak to the Skilled Worker Attraction From Outside Canada detailed description that was included in the AGM Folder.
· Federal and Provincial process has been speeded up to fill job vacancies quickly.
· If a company registers with the Provincial Nominee Program, employees could be on site in 8 weeks.
· The employer does not have to provide accommodation for employees.
· Egon Kuhn reported that he has hired 3 employees from Germany through the program.
Bruce Cownden invited Ian Lindsay to give a short presentation on the Qualicum Rotary KSS Job Fair.
· A Trade & Technology Fair is scheduled for May 17th, 2007 at KSS targeting grade 8 & 9 students to ensure students take the right courses in high school to enable them to enter the trades and technology fields upon graduation.
· In the past the fair has been mainly speeches and the Rotary would like to see representation from trades and technology companies to encourage students to enter their various fields of employment in the local area.
· Please contact Ian Lindsay if you have any new ideas that would compliment the fair.
Bruce Cownden thanked both Caroline Grover and Ian Lindsay for their presentations.
Introductions were made around the table.
Following the Annual General Meeting and the election of the 2007 Executive Committee Bruce Cownden turned the chair over to Michelle Jones, President.
