Bruce Cownden called the meeting to order at 12:05 P.M. and introduced Lisa Bhopalsingh as guest speaker. Lisa Bhopalsingh · An overall picture of the RDN, formed in the 1960’s to provide services to rural areas and an overall picture of the Regional Growth Strategy as an umbrella document. Technically it is non binding and a document of cooperation between the RDN and municipalities. · Encouraged everyone to sign up for on-line line updates on the RDN website. · Lisa encouraged anyone with any questions or for further information to contact her personally at LBhopalsingh@rdn.bc.ca or call her at Tel: 250 390 6510 Toll Free: 1 877 607 4111. Questions: · Are Municipalities reaching out to expand into RDN Lands included in the Growth Strategy Plan? o No this is not included. It is a Municipality process. · Is there a fringe area management included in the beginning of the process? o No, not in the beginning of the process, but we keep them aware of our dialogue. · Are the Municipalities on line to the issues? o Yes, it will be out on the website in early March. · Has the RDN been working with other Regional Districts? o Yes, we have been referring to other districts and keep the Municipalities informed of our dialogue. · Will the Municipal OCP’s have to be in agreement with the RGS? o Yes, but it will up to the Municipalities to define their own OCP’s. · Is growth encouraged in growth centre’s where Municipalities limit growth? o This issue needs to be addressed. · In order for the RGS to be adopted, do all parties have to be in agreement? o Yes, If agreement is not reached a mediator can be brought in.
