About the Grant
The Ontario Drum Corps Alumni (ODCA) and Don Buckley Grant honours the rich tradition of Drum Corps in Ontario and supports groups and organizations that are actively carrying its spirit forward. Each year, one or more one time grants are awarded to eligible Drum Corps related groups whose work reflects the values of performance, discipline, community, and mentorship that sit at the heart of Drum Corps.
Grant recipients are not eligible to reapply for a period of three (3) years, ensuring the legacy is shared broadly across the community.

Who Can Apply
The grant is open to Drum Corps–related groups and organizations, including:

• Drum lines

• Colour guards

• Alumni Corps

• Active Drum Corps

• Recognized Drum Corps–related organizations (e.g. DOCA)

Application Timeline

• Applications open once per year

• Submission details and deadlines are communicated through Drum Corps and alumni networks

• All applicants are notified of the outcome

How Applications Are Reviewed
Applications are reviewed by a small selection committee with Drum Corps and community experience. Decisions are based on:

• Alignment with the spirit and legacy of Drum Corps

• Impact on the group and/or the wider Drum Corps community

• Clarity and sincerity of purpose

• Responsible and appropriate stewardship of funds

 

After the Grant Is Awarded
Successful groups may be invited to share a short follow up story, reflection, or photo highlighting how the grant supported their work or journey. With permission, this may be shared to celebrate the ongoing Drum Corps legacy in Ontario.
